THE NEXT POPE

The implementation of Vatican II under Pope John Paul II has strenghtened the life of the Church in many ways, though his reliance on papal authority in resolving controversial issues of the Church doctrine and practice has caused dissension and disaffection in the Catholic  community. How John Paul II’s successor deals with these divisive issues will be crucial for the Church’s growth in the 21st century.
